Where the Idea Began
The idea for Safety Quest began during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, I was working as a School Resource Officer and watching schools adapt to an unprecedented situation. Nearly everything had changed—including the way safety drills were conducted.
I remember watching fire drills where students exited one classroom at a time without hearing the alarm or experiencing the realities that make emergencies confusing and stressful.
While those changes made sense during an unprecedented time, the experience left me wondering whether children were getting enough opportunities to truly learn and practice safety skills.
Children are often expected to know what to do during emergencies without having many opportunities to truly learn and practice those skills.
As a former police officer, volunteer firefighter, and mother of two, I wanted to create resources that help families build safety habits before they're ever needed.
This series of children's safety books is more than just about reading books for fun. It's about developing safety lessons that are delivered in fun, hands-on, and easily repeatable ways.
That's why Safety Quest exists.
